WISDOM FOR RECLAIMING YOUR IMMUNITY SERIES

DOES YOUR BODY NOURISH HEALTH OR INFECTIONS?

When the soil is rich, it grows lush lands leaving no room for infestations. That is why we have millions of miles of forests that have covered the ground. Once we neglected the lands richness invasions of all kinds began. So it is with the nature of your body-mind.

IMMUNITY has become a hot body topic. Since we now know that 70% of the immune system resides in the gut, an infection, a toxin (like a virus), an allergen, food, and our stress response weaken the immune system making us more vulnerable to contracting viruses like COVID-19, infestation of harmful pathogens, infection from bacteria, illness, and diseases of the body-brain. Immunity is connected to everything autoimmune. In the case of autoimmunity, when your immune system is mistakenly attacking your own body tissue, the system that normally stands strong, designed to protect you from foreign germs, bacteria, and viruses is essentially malfunctioning and has a weakened capacity to do so when you most need it.

We are facing an epidemic of autoimmune disorders – approximately fifty million Americans have received a known diagnosis. Autoimmune diseases include Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA), Lupus, Multiple Sclerosis, Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS), Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD), Fibromyalgia, Chron’s, Psoriasis, Rosacea, Celiac Disease, Thyroid Disease, Diabetes, and many other hard-to-classify syndromes are surfacing in the 21st century. They are all autoimmune. They are connected by one biochemical process at their root: a runaway immune response known as systemic inflammation that results in your body attacking its own tissues. Depending on the body tissue the immune system is attacking determines how it will be named (aka diagnosed).

All too often, these conditions are addressed with immune-suppressing medications, not by addressing the contributing root cause factors. My friends, that is about as helpful as a house caught on fire, pointing to the sounding smoke alarm and blaming it for the blazing inferno or standing on a tack and taking a lot of aspirin for the pain. The treatment is not more aspirin; it is ridding yourself of the irritant – remove the tack!

If you want to cool off an inflamed body-brain, you must find and remove the source/s nourishing the infestation, infection, and the stressors igniting a neuro-metabolic blaze, immune dysfunction, and a cascade of undesirable symptoms; that’s how you redirect a runaway immune system and its hostile attack on your joints, brain, gut, thyroid, skin, and sometimes your whole body.

#TRUTH

Interestingly, autoimmune disorders occur pretty much exclusively in developed countries like ours. More impoverished populations without modern conveniences like processed foods, running water, toilets that flush, washing machines, sterilized hands, homes, and backyards do not get autoimmune diseases. Likewise, it has been found that if you grew up on a farm with lots of animals, playing in the dirt, exposed to bugs, bacteria, and infections, that trains your immune system to recognize what is truly foreign and what is actually “YOU.”

Autoimmune disease, when taken together, represents a considerable health burden in this country. They are the eighth leading cause of death among women, shortening the average person’s lifespan by eight years. Not to mention the lost years of vitality, feeling fantastic, and function at your best.

Your immune system is meant to work for you; it is your defense against foreign invaders; it is your internal army. Autoimmunity occurs when your immune system has become confused about what’s a friend and what’s foe. Your body tissues are what gets caught in the crossfire.

As we continue to traverse the immunity terrain, I will be sharing ten steps for dealing with it in a way that can help you recover from autoimmunity, strengthen your immune response system, and protect your body-mind from further attack.
